For use with torches connected to an unregulated gas source. The regulators can be used on natural gas and liquid propane. They are designed to reduce line pressures to .5 PSI.
The line pressure is measured in column inches of water. The engineering definition is - IF the incoming line pressure is greater than 11 column inches for Natural gas, a regulator should be used to provide a consistent .5 PSI supply of Natural gas to the torch. Liquid propane supply line pressure of 8-column inches or greater requires a regulator to provide a constant .5 PSI supply of Liquid propane gas to the torch.
The use of the regulator will be decided by the contractor connecting the torch to the fuel supply. We mere mortals must rely on the local expert knowledge of your gas-company installer for the column inch stuff. All we need to know is the supply pressure to the torch is .5 PSI. The gas company folks doing the fuel connection will know how to interpret that and use a regulator if needed.
